photo: Alexis Alvarez, make-up: Daniel Bodin, direction/edit: melonarts [melonarts] a.k.a. Vivienne U.H.Doan, is an eclectic and experimental artist/designer based in Tokyo. Due to her upbringing in Asia/Europe/North America, her installation work and live art performances incorporate her observations and experiences of the different cultures as well as social taboos. Having a professional architectural background, she often uses materials and design elements related to the construction industry in her art projects. Her innate inquisitiveness has led her to collaborate with artists from various fields such as in underground music, fashion, photography, visual art and film. In July 2008, created and produced by Vivienne U.H.Doan, the annual [Beau·ti·fied Ta·boo] - A Dangerous Art exhibition series premiered in Tokyo. Emerging and established artists from various backgrounds and art media are invited to showcase their works. Her life in Tokyo constantly inspires her and she continues to challenge herself by experimenting with different art media such as hand-drawn and computer illustrations or metal and fabric.
